Boxing is a metaphor for the life of a hero. A hero always acclaimed at the end of his last fight.
The boxer is like a mythological hero or rather an anti-hero, with his weaknesses and aware of his limitations. At the end of a fight, amidst applause, whistles, coaches, betters and picture girls he stands there, with his gloves and his life.
